Law of attraction: How to attract what you want
By Nhatalya Pagtakhan
If you believe the phrase “think positive thoughts” and positive things constantly come your way, you’re putting the law of attraction into practice.
In simple terms, the law of attraction says that what we focus on, we attract into our lives. Those who generally think more positively get more of what they desire, while negative thinkers/people who are constantly in fear receive more unfortunate events. While the law of attraction won’t necessarily make you uber-rich or magically write the last half of your thesis while you’re sleeping, it can be a helpful way to reframe your thinking and manifest more positive things into your life.
Focusing on what we want
We are thinking constantly. Because the law of attraction is always working, we should be thinking specific thoughts on things we do want so the universe can receive our request and understand it perfectly.
However, life isn’t perfect, and it's hard to be specific with what we want all the time. To sort through our own thoughts and desires, we can learn to focus our priorities through meditation, journaling or deep breathing exercises. We can also condition ourselves to use that time to focus on things we do want, while also letting go of emotions we don’t need.
Setting our intentions free
The law of attraction not only asks people to focus on what they want but also let these things go.
We have to trust the universe or higher power to support us and give us what we want in due time.
A complete example of both these points was when I was studying for my nursing licensure exam to become a registered nurse (RN for short). I wanted to pass so bad, but I was also nervous as hell the whole week leading up to my exam. To focus on what I wanted, I journaled as if I had already passed, and during those journaling sessions, I focused on the feeling of passing. I would write down, “I feel so relieved to have passed my NCLEX, I feel a weight off of my shoulders!” even though I hadn’t taken the exam yet. Then, after I was finished journaling, I would try and distract myself from my nerves and set my intention free, because I knew if I thought about wanting to pass too much, those thoughts would turn into fears of failing the boards, which I did not want to do.
Final thoughts on the law of attraction
If this concept is new to you, you probably have a million questions. This isn’t the way I was taught to think as a kid, that’s for sure.
Law of attraction works in a bunch of different contexts. In love, the law of attraction can be used to manifest your dream partner. You can get the guy or girl who ghosted you to pop up randomly in your DMs. You can get the ex who blocked you on all social media to unblock you. They might even strike up a conversation (if that’s what you really want).
In business and money, you can get the job you were hoping for, the pay raise you’ve been requesting or there are even stories of random sums of money coming in for people who wish for this. It legit sounds too good to be true, but we’ll keep you posted if one of us from SheMade gets a random check in the mail scheme-free.
One thing to consider is that while a lot of good can come from this, we’re also capable of manifesting the wrong types of people in love, the wrong job offers and so on if careless with what we wish for. However, focusing and resetting your emotions and thoughts through journaling, deep breathing and/or meditation techniques can keep the bad ju-ju away.
If you’re still wondering what the fuss is about, testing out the law of attraction is pretty simple. Ask yourself, What more is it that you really want? Whatever it is, just know it is possible with a couple of simple points: to focus on what you want, then set those thoughts free.
